Our ambition is to reduce our climate footprint. Therefore, we are installing solar cells at our industrial property in Arlöv. It has been important to us to only use electricity from water, wind, solar and biofuels to minimize our climate impact. But now we choose to invest in our own production of electricity. The first step, which will be installed in 2021, will be 1,500 square meters. With the electricity shortage we have in southern Sweden, this investment means that we contribute to reducing Sweden's need to import electricity from the continent corresponding to 100 tonnes less CO₂ per year.
FrontPac's CEO Martin Enocson comments on the strategy. “At FrontPac, we manufacture packaging that fits into the circular economy and therefore it is always on our agenda to do what we can to minimize our climate footprint. For example, we have several who have driven electric cars for many years. We have also used biogas for a number of years to drive our production and all waste heat from production is used to heat the premises.”
This investment will come at the same time as the company installed a completely new corrugated cardboard machine on the premises and thus doubled its capacity to produce packaging. FrontPac has experienced a strong year despite covid-19. Several products that have increased during this time are packaged in boxes from us in Arlöv at the same time as paper-based packaging is booming. Today, about 150 people are employed in producing packaging and the company has ambitious plans for continued expansion.
