FrontPac acquires Kafab – expanding our competence and offer in fiber based packaging

FrontPac, a leading supplier of corrugated packaging, has acquired Kafab Förpackning AB, a family-owned company that offers sustainable solutions for fiber-based packaging. The acquisition gives FrontPac the opportunity to grow in the market and meet customers' needs for environmentally friendly alternatives to plastic.

Acquisition of Kafab in line with the EU's new environmental requirements

FrontPac, one of the largest manufacturers of corrugated packaging in the Nordic region, has completed the acquisition of Kafab, a company that has developed unique products and processes for fiber-based packaging. Through the acquisition, FrontPac will gain access to Kafab's expertise and technology, which complements FrontPac's existing range of packaging solutions.

"We are very pleased to welcome Kafab to the FrontPac family. Together we have a strong position in the market and can offer our customers a wide and attractive range of fiber-based packaging. We look forward to working together with Kafab's competent and committed employees and continuing to develop sustainable and innovative packaging solutions that meet the new EU laws and customer expectations", says Martin Enocson, Managing Director at FrontPac.

The acquisition comes at a time when the EU has introduced new laws aimed at reducing the use of plastic packaging and increasing the share of renewable materials. One of these laws is the PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation), which places higher requirements on the recycling and reuse of packaging. Fiber-based packaging, which is made of paper, cardboard or other plant fibers, is one of the most sustainable alternatives to plastic because it is biodegradable, recyclable and renewable.

FrontPac strengthens its sustainability focus with Kafab

FrontPac has a long history of working with sustainability and innovation in the packaging industry. The company has, among other things, certified according to FSC® Chain of Custody (FSC-C111831), which guarantees that the raw materials come from responsibly managed forests, and ISO 26000, which is an international standard for verifying sustainability work. FrontPac has also invested in modern machinery and equipment that reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions.

With the acquisition of Kafab, FrontPac takes a major step forward in its vision to become a leading player in fiber-based packaging. Kafab has distinguished itself by creating innovative solutions that combine high quality, function and design with minimal environmental impact. Kafab's products have been used to package industrial products, beverages, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals, among other things.

“We are proud to become part of FrontPac, a company that shares our values and passion for fiber-based packaging. By joining forces with FrontPac, we gain access to a larger customer base, a broader product portfolio and greater resources for development. We believe this is a perfect match that will benefit both our customers and our environment.”, says Magnus Bäckström, Managing Director at Kafab.
